As the years go by, your family members change and evolve rapidly. So you want to immortalize every moment by doing a photo session and you may wonder what are the best places to do it. Not only will you get some gorgeous photos, but you’ll get in a mini adventure with the family going to these locations together. Babysits has made you a list of unique places to take special family photos.
1) Future World at the ArtScience Museum
It shouldn’t be hard to convince the family to meet you for a day of exploring the Future World exhibit at the ArtScience Museum. With four different “narratives” (City in A Garden, Sanctuary, Park and Space) everyone can choose which setting fits their personality. Once you get everyone together, snap pictures throughout your journey and you’ll sure to have some long-lasting keepsakes.
2) Katong’s Shophouses in Joo Chiat
A stroll down this street will light up any person, any age. The brightly colored shophouses are decorated with intricate motifs, ceramic tiled roofs and elaborate exteriors. The perfect backdrop for any family or couple photoshoot.
3) Street Art at Haji Lane
If you are looking for a scenery that is bright, colorful and so very different depending on when you go, check out Haji Lane. It is known for its boutique cafes, eccentric shops and the little street painted with local artists street graffiti. This is another adventure that will not only be fun to experience with the family, but will create memories just by wandering about.
4) Old Hill Street Police Station
This is a fun and clean looking background. It has that pop of color you are looking for combined with the geometrical shapes. This historic building used to be a former police station and after a few name changes, reverted back to the police station. Once you are finished taking photos of the outside of the building, head inside to see the inside atrium, or alternatively called the ‘Artrium’.
5) Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay
What better backdrop is there but the infamous Supertree Grove. Turn your boring family portrait into a super futuristic themed picture. These huge canopies look like space-age trees during the day and light up at night to create amazing backgrounds for any photo!
6) Little India
You can schedule another stroll through Little India where everywhere you look is a photo opportunity. Walk through the hanging saris, pose in front of street art and admire the vibrant colored homes. Check out the last surviving Chinese villa, Tan Teng Niah’s house for an insta-worthy shot.
7) Botanical Gardens
If nature is more your thing, the Botanical Gardens are abundant with lush greenery to frame your little family. The Gardens is the first UNESCO Heritage site in Singapore and for good reason. They have attractions including gardens dedicated to ethnobotany, orchids, ginger, the rainforest, and of course children. Unlike the other locations, the Botanical Gardens can be an educational and creature filled day adventure.
8) Gardens by the Bay East
One of the most famous sites in Singapore is the Gardens by the Bay. There you can find the Supertree Grove, Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome. With all the focus on those specific spots, you may not realize that beautiful scenery is just over the bay on the Marina East. From this area looking west, you get the view of the Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay Sands Hotel, the Flower Dome and all the other high rise buildings making the Singapore skyline. An excellent backdrop for an impressive family photoshoot.
9) The Hive
From the outside, one could describe this building as an architectural masterpiece from outer space. It’s name really does it justice both inside and outside. The high and low perspectives make this background both fascinating and unusual. A cute idea: dress your children in little bee costumes and pretend to buzz around.
10) Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum
The best thing about Singapore is its bubbling diversity. Complete with distinct features and elaborate details, this temple is fairly new established only in 2002 with a Northern China style. This building would be a striking setting for any family or couple looking for vibrant reds and pointed edges.
