Yew Tee Primary School’s Publicity Video 2021

This project was for Yew Tee Primary School’s Publicity Video 2021, which was completed in May of 2021.

We had to plan the filming with social distancing in mind, always ensuring masks are on, and always maintaining a 1 metre social distancing when filming and exercising extra caution as it is a Primary school with plenty of children around as well as parents and teachers who are naturally worried about their children and students amid this pandemic.

Another obstacle was that we were working with young talents who may at times be uncomfortable in front of camera, as well as having a much shorter attention span. They do get frustrated at times, hence many retakes were needed, and we also had to work with the time limitations due to their schedule. A usual full day filming will consist of 8 – 10 hours but for the children we only have around 6 hours with them per full day shoot.

Our crew kept encouraging the talents, and changed the storyboard accordingly on site in order to complete the filming in time if the talents are unable to re-enact any particular scene. Sometimes rewards such as snacks, and rapport building with the children really helped, as seen in the behind the scenes images.

The client also required introduction of most CCA and classes to be fitted into a video that is less than 5 minutes, as well as including the concept of the young talent providing a tour of the school.

We had to be very creative with the transitions between the introductions of different classes/CCAs. This will allow shortening of the video length and made it much more interesting for the viewers. Working very closely with the clients also allows this project to be so successful.

We developed a close relationship with client, and thinking out of the box is what made projects like this a interesting and successful as seen in the final adaption of the video.

The client was pleased as it was a very unique take and something very different for a Primary School publicity video. As quoted by our client Ryan, ” It has been a wonderful partnership.
